Johnson Graduate School of Management
The Program for International Business Education, housed at the Johnson Graduate School of Management, works to bring international topics into business classes and bring business ideas into Cornell's area studies programs. This effort includes guest speakers, conferences, classes, social activities, and support for student and faculty travel and research.
The program has no particular regional focus but rather tries to respond to the international interests of participants. The 2004-05 academic year, for example, included speakers from every continent but Antarctica. Study tours and international consulting projects, which take place during Cornell vacations, have gone to Brazil, China, India, Belgium (EU), Japan, and the Czech Republic. A new consulting program, in cooperation with Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá) will begin in Colombia during the 2005-06 academic year. The program maintains relationships with several universities abroad to support international student and faculty activities and manages our program with Nanjing University Business School that inserts an executive education program (earning a Cornell certificate) into a Nanjing University Executive MBA program.
With the support of a U.S. Department of Education grant, the Program for International Business Education is also involved in developing a series of teaching materials on business, government, and civil society interaction. Those materials are all available free of charge on the program's website.
The entire Cornell community is invited to participate in the program's activities. To join the e-mailing list for the program, send a request to Jan Katz, the program director, at jhk14@cornell.edu.
