College of Human Ecology
The College of Human Ecology has a long-standing involvement in international activities, including research programs in nutrition, child development, facility planning, textiles, and policy as well as educational exchanges with foreign universities and study abroad programs.
“To a degree it might be said that international service was part of the college’s heritage... Its spirit was inherent in the work done by Miss Van Rensselaer and Miss Rose in Belgium following World War I in the cause of women’s education and child welfare. In recognition of this, each was awarded the Croix de Chevalier de l’ordre de la Couronne by his majesty the King of Belgium. The presentations were made…on December 14, 1925.”*
Human Ecology continues to address global human needs in its programs. Students need to be prepared for the globalization of their communities and work places. International students from around the world are part of the College's diverse student body. The faculty’s research, teaching, and outreach/extension includes international foci. Human Ecology has international visitors and scholars and exchange programs with numerous international universities, corporations, and organizations. These efforts are embedded in the mission and programs of the college.
