The College of Engineering is a global leader in the discovery of new knowledge, creation of transforming inventions, and the education of students who will contribute to a better future. To accomplish this vision the college has established strategic transnational priorities consistent with those of the University:
- Establish a college presence in China, Europe, and India,
- Increase undergraduate study, work, and internship opportunities abroad,
- Attract the best international graduate students to study at Cornell,
- Increase transnational faculty research collaborations in the areas of:
- Systems biology and biomedical engineering
- Nanomaterials, nanoscience, and nanodevices
- Energy, environment, and sustainable development
- Information, computation, and communication
- Advanced materials and
- Complex systems and networks.
Engineering is an evolving discipline that reinvents itself to explore and create solutions to complex problems. Through global partnerships, these solutions have the potential to create breakthrough change that will improve the quality of life worldwide.
International Programs
Europe – École Centrale, Châtenay-Malabry Cedex, France
École Centrale des Arts et Manufactures (ECP), founded in 1829, is one of the top engineering schools in Europe. Its dedicated alumni constitute an active, worldwide network of professionals in engineering, research, management, and finance. Cornell Engineering students can study at École Centrale near Paris in a Junior Year Abroad Program or a five year 2-2-1 Program that leads to the prestigious French Diplôme d’Ingénieur from École Centrale and Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees from Cornell University.
China – Tsinghua University, Beijing, The People’s Republic of China
In November 2004 Cornell University and Tsinghua University announced the formation of a collaborative relationship to strengthen research and education in engineering and related physical sciences. The agreement will facilitate collaborative research and broaden the international experiences of the faculty and students of both institutions through:
