IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY ABROAD:

  1. If it is a medical emergency, seek care immediately.
  2. Call International SOS. Their professionals will collect information, analyze your situation, provide advice, and form a plan of action. You should have your ISOS card with you at all times when you travel abroad.
  3. Call the Cornell Police at 607-255-1111 (Be aware of the international calling code for the United States). Try to remain calm. Inform the person you are speaking with about the urgency and details of the situation. Inform them that you are a member of the Cornell community and give your location and the name of the Cornell trip/group. The officer will advise you of the next steps depending on your situation.
NOTE: Your travel pre-planning should have included an emergency plan and the completion of an Emergency Protocol and Procedure Form. You should refer to this for emergency contact information specific to your location.
