Study Abroad
Study abroad is an integral part of a Cornell education. Each year, Cornell Abroad coordinates overseas study for more than 500 Cornell undergraduates during the academic year. Recent events have raised awareness that those aspiring to lead in this country need, more than ever before, knowledge and experience of the diverse world beyond the boundaries of their home country. Living and learning abroad can open students' mind to new possibilities, deepen their understanding of the world, and help them discover their place in it.
To help students develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for informed citizenship, Cornell Abroad offers a wide range of international study opportunities that reflect the fundamental educational goals and objectives of the University. Study abroad is a continuous extension of study on campus, enabling students from all of Cornell’s colleges and majors to make regular progress towards their degree while abroad.
Qualified students study abroad through programs administered by Cornell and/or other American institutions, as well as by enrolling directly in foreign universities. Cornell Abroad works extensively with students to identify destinations that complement their courses of study. To earn credit for overseas study during the fall and/or spring semester(s), students must apply through Cornell Abroad. Students receive full financial aid when studying abroad.
