Publications
Cornell University Press was first established in 1869, giving Cornell the distinction of being the first university in the United States to have its own press. From this early beginning, Cornell’s printing effort has grown to include a large number of publications that focus in whole or in part on international studies. These include not only books published by Cornell University Press but regular scholarly journals such as the Cornell International Law Journal, published under the auspices of the Cornell Law School, or the Indonesia Journal, published semi-annually by the Southeast Asia Program. It also includes a number of semi-regular publication series, newsletters, translations of foreign works, and working papers series.
Many of the less formal newsletters and working paper series are printed and distributed by the international programs and institutes on campus. The more formal East Asia Book Series and Southeast Asian Publication Series are available in online bookstores where users can browse hundreds of volumes, place orders electronically and have shipments sent to any country in the world. In fact, to date the East Asia and Southeast Asia series have received orders from countries as varied as, Afghanistan, Denmark, Iceland, South Korea, and Uruguay.
