Cornell realizes that it takes more than just offering courses on international topics to truly embrace international studies and advance the international dimensions of the University. It is equally important to provide financial resources to faculty and students to encourage research, teaching, and outreach on international topics. Below is a list of some of these resources.

The Area Studies Programs at Cornell have been awarded federal funding to support Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships. This Title VI program of the U.S. Department of Education provides academic year and summer fellowships to Cornell and other institutions of higher education to assist graduate students in foreign language and area or international studies.
The Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies
The main source of funding for international initiatives at Cornell comes from the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies. The Einaudi Center provides financial support to more than 20 programs on campus that focus on international studies. These include all of Cornell’s area studies programs as well as a number of thematic programs such as the Peace Studies Program or the program on Gender and Global Change.

Jeffrey Sean Lehman Fund for Scholarly Exchange with China

The Vice Provost for International Relations welcomes applications for the annual competition of the Jeffrey Sean Lehman Fund for Scholarly Exchange with China. Established in honor of former President Lehman's commitment to fostering Cornell’s global linkages, and in particular to building partnerships with Chinese universities, the Jeffrey Sean Lehman Fund supports exchanges and/or research collaborations between Cornell faculty and graduate students and their counterparts at China's major research universities. The Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies Faculty Seed Grants

The Mario Einaudi Center runs a biannual seed grant program designed to advance international studies at Cornell. Tenured and tenure-track Cornell faculty are eligible to apply for these grants, as are Programs and Centers within the University, irrespective of their college or school of origin.

Cornell Graduate School Travel Grants and Research Awards

Cornell International Institute for Food, Agriculture and Development (CIIFAD)

Student Support and Advising-
Over the past 15 years, more than 200 graduate students have received support for their studies or field research in connection with CIIFAD programs. Research focuses are determined jointly with overseas partners so that there is a demand for what is learned. Small amounts of financial support for graduate students to travel and undertake overseas projects are available.
Fulbright Program

The Fulbright Program of the U.S. Department of State is administered on the Cornell campus by the Mario Einaudi Center. These grants for study or research abroad are awarded on a nationally competitive basis to U.S. citizens who are graduate students or will have earned the bachelors degree prior to September of the year for which the grant is being awarded.
Fulbright-Hays Awards

The Mario Einaudi Center supports Cornell's graduate students in applying for the annual nationwide Fulbright-Hays awards of the U.S. Department of Education. These awards are prestigious grants that provide generous support (including dependents' allowances, if needed) for six to 12 months of dissertation research in a foreign country.

The Mario Einaudi Center offers this unique research travel grant program to encourage graduate student research and field work in countries outside the United States. Each year this competitive program supports 100 to 150 graduate students from all fields of study.
