Career Planning
As the world shrinks, career opportunities are expanding rapidly for anyone with "exportable talents", experience abroad, language and cross-cultural skills. For anyone interested in an international experience—study abroad, an internship, short-term employment, an international career, or a global perspective from internationally renowned faculty—Cornell opens the door to a world of opportunity.
Whatever the goal, it is important to develop "exportable talents" through a solid foundation in one’s chosen field of study. From the arts to science or engineering, from business to international agriculture, Cornell has one of the most expansive courses of study of any university in the world.
Academic advisors and counselors in the office of student services/advising of each college are available to provide advice tailored to individual needs and interests. Students may also meet with counselors in college career offices and visit the International Job Search section of the Cornell Career Services website, or the Career Library in 103 Barnes Hall which offers more than 1200 books, video and audiotapes, and CDs—one of the largest collections on any college campus.
