Academic Impact
Academic Impact is a global initiative that aligns institutions of higher education with the United Nations in actively supporting ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, literacy, sustainability and conflict resolution. The Academic Impact asks each participating college or university to actively demonstrate support of at least one of those principles each year. Examples of this could include research projects and papers, the hosting of a conference, the financing of participation of students in a specific United Nations activity in the field, or a specific action or activity on campus. By formally endorsing the ten principles in the Academic Impact, Cornell University has made a commitment to use education as an engine for addressing global problems.
The ten principles are listed below with links to programs and activities at Cornell that demonstrate them. We invite each college, unit, or member of the Cornell community to send links to Linda Schmidt at Lms10@cornell.edu to highlight your programs or activities that exhibit these principles.
